Job Summary:
Schylling is seeking a proactive, people‑focused Human Resources Generalist with strong organizational skills to be the day-to-day contact for our Lakewood, WA distribution center. This role will be focused on managing the full cycle recruiting and onboarding processes in the Distribution Center and will be responsible for supporting other general functions within the Human Resources Department including, but not limited to, employee relations, engagement, performance evaluations & management, payroll, benefits & compliance, and policy guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support full cycle recruiting for distribution center roles, including job posting, sourcing candidates, applicant tracking, pre-screening, scheduling interviews, preparing and delivering offers, and processing pre-hire background checks.
- Manage onboarding for distribution center new hires including pre-hire communication, paperwork, new hire orientation, and tracking onboarding progress to ensure a smooth start.
- Support the coordination of annual open enrollment, organizing and participating in open enrollment trainings in the distribution center.
- Facilitate the offboarding process by conducting exit interviews and coordinating all administrative tasks for departing employees in accordance with state law.
- Process employee transactions within HRIS system including new hires, job changes, terminations, leaves of absence, and employee status updates.
- Enter and maintain accurate employee data in the company HRIS.
- Perform regular audits of employee records to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
- Generate metrics and reports as needed to support HR operations and compliance efforts.
- Provide backup support in payroll processing.
- Provide day to day support to employees and managers in the distribution center, including answering benefits and payroll questions.
- Support performance management, coaching conversations, corrective actions, and investigations.
- Provide guidance on workplace issues, policy interpretation, attendance, and conduct.
- Assist with employee communications and engagement efforts within the distribution center.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, state leave laws, etc.).
- Support leave of absence administration, including FMLA, disability and state-specific leaves.
- Recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and employee experience.
- Participate in HR projects and initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field.
- 3–5 years of progressive HR generalist experience, preferably supporting a Warehouse/Distribution Center environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices.
- Ability to work comfortably in an operational, fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems (Rippling a plus) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Service-oriented mindset with a focus on the employee experience.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills. as well as strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport across all levels of the organization.
- High degree of integrity with ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong organizational skills, decision making ability, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
- Comfortable working in a multi-site, multi-state environment.
- Experience with full cycle recruiting, employee benefit programs and leaves of absence management.
- Experience processing payroll.
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar HR certification preferred.
- Ability to work on-site 5 days per week.
The base salary range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000. Offered base compensation within this range will be determined based on a candidate’s qualifications, experience, geographic location and other factors relevant to the scope and responsibilities of this role.
